About Katya

I am a practicing psychologist and a firm believer in humanity. I believe that it is through our humanity, humour, and compassion to self and others we heal and grow.

My practice encompasses a wide range of psychological issues, including but not limited to addiction, anxiety, stress management, familial conflicts, consequences of abuse, relationship challenges, and personal growth. I have successfully supported individuals from diverse backgrounds, tailoring our work to meet their unique needs. I have worked extensively in inpatient and outpatient settings with people struggling with substance abuse. Additionally, I have experience in supervising, training, and supporting other psychologists and psychotherapists within a framework of international organisations and projects. I work in an integrative and existential approaches, carefully selecting what works and aligns with individual client needs. In my work, I am aware and can work in parallel with various 12 step self-help programs such as AA, NA, ACA, and others.

I earned a First-Class Honours Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Dalhousie in Halifax, Canada, followed by a Master's degree in Psychology from Ludwig Maximilian's University in Munich, Germany. I also hold certificates in existential, trauma-oriented, and mindfulness-focused approaches. Moreover, I have completed trainings in working with addiction, codependence, and the consequences of abuse. I actively participate in ongoing training and professional development. To date, I have authored and supported multiple scientific publications and investigations in the areas of addiction, development, and crisis counselling.

I regularly engage in professional supervision so I can stay well and work well. My professional experiences are also complemented by over 13 years of personal therapy. Lastly, I have completed over 200 hours of training in creative modalities of dance-movement practice, meditation, theatre-based interventions and art-focused methods of healing. Also, I am a member of Stress, Trauma, Anxiety, and Resilience professional Society and a documentary author.
